JiTiBa B.V. develops sustainable wastewater treatment solutions based on immobilised microalgae. Our modular algae beads remove nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphate from wastewater, reduce the use of chemicals and offer opportunities to recover valuable resources.

The technology has been validated in laboratory tests and mini-pilot trials using real wastewater and is at an advanced stage of development, at approximately TRL 5. We are also investigating its potential to remove heavy metals, pharmaceutical residues, PFAS and other substances of very high concern.

JiTiBa focuses on applications in municipal wastewater treatment, agriculture, industry and decentralised water systems. By combining water treatment with the conversion of biomass into products including biochar and biogas, we contribute to a circular water cycle and improved water quality.

Together with water authorities, research institutions, industrial partners and international organisations, we are working to scale up innovative and future-proof water treatment solutions.
