Recently, AQ Group carried out work in Curaçao. By carrying out the work both in the Netherlands and in Curaçao, it has been possible to export specialised techniques common in the Netherlands to Curaçao.
AQ Group was formed in 2002 and initially focused on air cleaning in utility buildings. In 2005, water activities were added. Legionella management, cleaning of cooling towers and supply of chemicals became standard activities which, often offered in combination with work on climate installations, resulted in the rapid growth of the water division. By also adding a number of sustainable cleaning methods (such as Sonoxide and DCW) for water installations to the service package, a major player in the market emerged for maintaining both climate and water installations, with a focus on sustainable methods.
The project, carried out in Curaçao, involved a 30 m3 buffer tank installed at the Curaçao Medical Center. This hospital in Curaçao has been a long-time client as AQ Group will be responsible for the maintenance of the water treatment from 2021. In addition, AQ Group has implemented various modifications and improvements in the field of water treatment within the Curaçao Medical Center.
The project was prepared in the Netherlands, after which the materials were shipped to Curaçao. Transport was a huge challenge given the size of the tank, therefore it was assembled on site in parts by AQ Group’s project engineers. Transport and placement were not possible if the tank was in one piece, as it simply would not fit through doors. Thanks to the installation of this tank, there is now a stable water supply within the hospital, which is very important in a medical centre.
The entire project took a total of 3 weeks, including 2 weeks on site in Curaçao.
As already reported, the successful completion of this project is not the end of the work on Curaçao. For instance, AQ Group is still working on optimising the water treatment. Combining work preparation and procurement in the Netherlands and then local execution with AQ Group staff has been pleasing and the experience gained provides a good guide of applying specialised knowledge overseas!
