Are you interested in exploring business opportunities in Brazil? Or are you already working in Brazil but looking to expand your reach? The Netherlands Water Partnership, in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in São Paulo, is organising a joint participation of Dutch water sector organisations through the Netherlands Lounge. Join us at Fenasan in São Paulo from 21 to 23 October 2025!
Fenasan attracts approximately 20,000 participants, making it the largest technical-commercial event on environmental sanitation in Latin America. The event consists of the national sanitation and environment fair Fenasan (Feira Nacional de Saneamento e Meio Ambiente) and the 36th AESabesp Technical Meeting conference. It is organised by AESabesp, the Association of Engineers of Sabesp, the largest water and waste management company in Latin America.
The event draws a diverse audience, including engineers, chemists, biologists, technicians, researchers, students, managers, and business leaders working in environmental sanitation from both the public and private sectors. This trade show is scheduled to take place in Expo Center Norte in São Paulo from October 21-23.
Sanitation and innovation: pillars for a resilient and sustainable future
The central theme of this edition is “Sanitation and innovation: pillars for a resilient and sustainable future”, in line with the SDGs – Sustainable Development Goals established by the UN and ESG concepts.
Next to the focus on the environment and solid waste management, Fenasan aims to promote and spotlight the technological development of sanitation and products used in water treatment, water supply and collection systems, and sewage water treatment. This year, Fenasan is also looking to expand its range of topics to include Nature-based Solutions and urban drainage.
Promising Brazilian water market
Brazil presents a promising market for Dutch water sector companies, with urgent water and sanitation challenges demanding innovative solutions. Despite being rich in water resources, Brazil faces issues such as urban water scarcity, wastewater treatment deficits, and ageing infrastructure.
Approximately 35 million people do not have access to treated water in Brazil, while almost 100 million people do not have access to sewage treatment. Brazil’s goal is to provide 99% of the population with drinking water and 90% with sewage treatment by 2033.
Over the next decade, Brazil’s sanitation sector will experience rapid development thanks to the government’s privatisation strategy and stimulus projects. Private investment is expected to drive growth in the market for environmental technologies, such as the collection, treatment and distribution of water, as well as the collection and treatment of sewage and solid waste. In this dynamic environment, Fenasan promises to be an excellent platform to connect market participants and promote the use of environmental technologies in Brazil and the entire region.
Dutch expertise in integrated water management, circular economy approaches, and climate-resilient solutions can make a significant impact. Participating in the Netherlands Lounge at Fenasan in São Paulo offers a unique opportunity to showcase solutions to potential partners and clients in Brazil and beyond.
