On September 25, Acquaint celebrated her birthday. Acquaint was created in 2014, as a WaterCampus scale-up. Water-related customers of HDM Pipelines, a consultancy company specialized in advice and support of pipeline owners and managers in the management of pipeline systems, were looking for practical inspection technologies. Acquaint was established to ensure independence, distinction between services and products, and transparency towards customers.
The objective of Acquaint is to prevent future failure of pipelines by using inspection methods and techniques for pipelines and the application of data science. With the aid of these tools pipeline owners are able to verify maintenance strategies and detect possible failure mechanisms. The application of data science creates a leverage effect whereby our customers increase the control over their assets.
Currently Acquaint has 4 different inspection techniques, for both internal and external inspection of pipelines, which are scientifically validated. With this, pipelines with different types of material, varying from diameter DN150 – DN1800, can be inspected and all possible failure mechanisms can be detected.
Over the past 5 years Acquaint has provided its inspection services to many customers in the water sector and has grown into a market leader for condition determination in the water sector.
In October the 20th employee will start working at Acquaint, and in the meantime 25 students have completed their internship, graduation or international project at Acquaint.
“The way of working and future plans that the company has, hereby I refer to the internationalization, appeal to me” says Robbert Lodewijks, former student Mechanical engineering at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen. In the meantime he started his university (pre-) Master in Change Management and simultaneously started working at Acquaint as Sales Engineer.
Acquaint is proud of the opportunities that they can offer students. As a young and dynamic company in a scale-up phase there are personal and professional development opportunities.
Last year the company moved from Wommels to Leeuwarden, as the office in Wommels became too small. The company also started focussing on internationalization. Acquaint currently does business in 3 continents. In the coming 3 years, the company wants to continue this internationalization and grow into an important player in the international market.
On this special day, Rudy Dijkstra, Managing Director and co-founder, says: “I am proud of what we have achieved in 5 years with our team. We are a unique multidisciplinary employer, with a unique social and sustainable proposition for our customers”.
