In the ever-expanding market for advanced polymer dosing systems, Water Alliance member Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS) has introduced the Qdos 60 PU peristaltic pump, a game-changing addition to their range. This innovative pump offers enhanced polymer metering capabilities, enabling operators to achieve efficient, safe, and reliable polymer dosing in water and wastewater treatment plants worldwide.
The demand for advanced polymer dosing systems is particularly high in sludge applications, where polymers play a crucial role in coagulation and dewatering processes. Efficient sludge dewatering not only reduces the bulk of sludge but also significantly cuts down on storage and disposal costs, often by as much as 75 percent.
At one wastewater treatment plant in Heide, Germany, the Qdos 60 PU metering pump is enabling the easy dosing of even hard-to-process polymers and other hydrocarbons. Efficient sludge dewatering is becoming increasingly important due to stringent regulatory requirements worldwide. Accurate and reliable metering of polymers during the sludge dewatering process is essential for proper management.
The Qdos 60 PU pump is specifically designed to address these challenges. It offers precise and repeatable flows for a wide range of fluids, including viscous flows and aliphatic hydrocarbons. With linear flow rates of up to 60 liters per hour and pressures of up to 5 bar, the pump delivers excellent performance even in demanding applications. It is compatible with complex polymers such as polyacrylamide (PAM) as well as other flocculants and coagulants commonly used in wastewater treatment.
“Engineers are reporting high levels of accuracy, ease of use and manoeuvrability, coupled with maximum process security,” said Peter Dohrn, wastewater treatment manager for the plant.
“The first pumphead ran smoothly for a year before we had to replace it, purely as a preventive measure, and the second has been working without any trouble for the last six months. Replacing the pumphead only takes a few minutes.”
