Leeuwarden, November 19, 2024 – Olympic open water swimming champion Sharon van Rouwendaal is the new ambassador for Wettermerk, a leading marketing agency in the water technology, cleantech, and manufacturing industries. The partnership was officially announced during Wettermerk Connects, an event in Leeuwarden that brought together more than fifty prominent companies from these sectors.
Passion for clean water as a driving force
Van Rouwendaal, who has spent years swimming in open water, will now serve as an ambassador for a cleaner future. “I’ve experienced firsthand how polluted water is worldwide, and that needs to change. With Wettermerk, I want to use my experience and determination to improve water management,” said Van Rouwendaal. “Together, we can make a positive impact on the environment and the health of both people and animals.”
Wettermerk Connects: connecting and inspiring
Wettermerk Connects served as the starting point for further developing the Wettermerk community, focused on business growth and sustainability. During the event, new partnerships were launched to accelerate business growth.
With Van Rouwendaal’s support, Wettermerk aims to strengthen its mission: connecting companies that are actively working on sustainable solutions. In 2025, more events will follow where Van Rouwendaal will share her vision to inspire others.
A platform for real impact
“Connecting Sharon as an ambassador with Wettermerk was a natural choice,” says Ruth Rottiné, founder of Wettermerk. “Her determination and adaptability as an athlete reflect our DNA: always focused on progress and results. With Wettermerk Connects, we facilitate collaborations that turn sustainability into tangible impact.”
