On Wednesday June 9th, Water Alliance, together with Umweltcluster Bayern (with the support of Enterprise Europe Network) organised a short webinar in the field of water technology. As neighbouring countries Germany and the Netherlands traditionally have a very good relationship. This was also very clear during the webinar, there was an extraordinary amount of interest from both countries.
When formal introductions were concluded Umweltcluster Bayern and Water Alliance spoke about their national and local water issues. Followed by six innovative companies presenting their innovative technology solution on current topics.
Rudolf Ball from Symvaro was the first to take the floor, talking about water smart cities and how to raise efficiency with water meter lifetime management. It became clear that there was a lot to be gained (70 %) by using the right tools.
Sabine Stuiver from the award winning Hydraloop talked about how Hydraloop’s innovative systems can help cities become more water efficient. She spoke about ‘Mooi Blitsaerd’, a project in Leeuwarden and Hydraloop’s contribution to make Leeuwarden into the most sustainable and water efficient city. The company’s slogan ‘use water twice’ tells their story in short, which in turn can have huge impact on water savings.
The next topic was the removal of micropollutants. Dr. -Ing. Sebastian Porkert from Ecofario explained how next generation fluid filtration works in the real world. The way microplastic elimination can be achieved using high-performance cyclone technology was very much in demand, this also became clear by the questions from the audience.
CEO of Van Remmen UV Technology Ton van Remmen spoke about the reduction of pharmaceuticals in municipal wastewater and hydrogen peroxide at Sundet WWTP in Växjö, Sweden and the profound effects. As a technology, the sustainable UV disinfection system has a unique approach. The exceptional combination of sustainability and efficiency makes the tech very energy efficient.
Resource recovery was the final topic, specifically phosphate recovery and thermal energy from wastewater. Wolfgang Schnabl from Huber SE explained how air conditioning works using thermic energy from waste water.
Last of the speakers, Marissa de Boer from the Dutch company SusPhos, outlined how her company is doing its part towards a circular phosphate economy. The way SusPhos is upcycling phosphate rich waste streams into high quality products can help achieve this.
After just over 1,5 hours the interesting programme was concluded, but the activities do not stop there. The B2Match platform is still active until the 18th of June. From the activity on the platform and feedback from several speakers and attendees, the good atmosphere is continued in the 1:1 meetings. New connections and possible partnerships are being made as you read this.
Danke, bedankt, thank you.
