Water Alliance member Pure Water Group has been awarded the contract to supply four Continuous Electrodeionization (CEDI) systems to its long-term and valued business partner, VYP Asesores in Costa Rica.
A consistent supply of ultrapure water is required in the electronics industry to prevent contamination of product and ensure manufacturing excellence. CEDI is a robust technology and a key process used to achieve and efficiently maintain the stringent Ultrapure water requirements.
For this project, two CEDI systems are an essential part of delivering Ultrapure water for the make-up system. Two additional CEDI systems are located in the polishing loop to deliver a consistent product water quality of >17 MOhm-cm.
These systems are optimized to operate at a high recovery of 97.5% to minimize water losses and maintain high efficiencies important for this application.
The use of these CEDI systems offers significant cost and environmental advantages over traditional IX bed systems which imply consumption of high amounts of hazardous chemicals and the generation of wastewaters difficult to treat.
