Water Tech Mission to Portugal

Water Alliance is organising an exclusive two-day water technology mission to Portugal. During this mission, Dutch and Portuguese stakeholders will be brought together to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaboration, and develop practical solutions to current water challenges.

The mission focuses on asset management and network efficiency in urban water systems – from drinking water and wastewater to stormwater management. Dutch expertise and Portuguese needs align strongly in these areas.

By connecting utilities, policymakers, system integrators, contractors and innovative companies, we aim to develop scalable solutions that contribute to European objectives in climate adaptation, circularity and efficient water use.

This mission is organised in close cooperation with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Lisbon, the Portuguese Water Partnership, and a local Portuguese consultancy firm, ensuring a high-quality programme and valuable connections.

What to expect

During this mission, you will actively engage in both knowledge exchange and the development of concrete collaborations:

  • Inspiring presentations on asset management, smart water, reuse, circular solutions and digitalisation
  • Interactive breakout sessions to jointly explore challenges and identify solutions
  • Site visits to leading organisations, including Águas de Cascais and the “Fábrica da Água da Guia”
  • Direct engagement with Portuguese stakeholders and consortium partners
  • A strong focus on developing pilot projects and long-term cooperation

What’s in it for you?

  • Insight into shared priorities within the European water sector
  • Concrete opportunities for international collaboration and projects
  • Strengthening your position in areas such as leakage detection, water reuse and advanced treatment
  • New strategic partnerships for the long term

This mission is intended for Dutch companies, knowledge institutes and organisations active in water technology that are interested in collaboration with the Portuguese market.
