Autumn 2023 will be all about Italy! Italy faces future challenges in the areas of water scarcity, drinking water management and infrastructure, digitization and wastewater treatment.
The Italian Recovery Plan has made 60 billion euros available for the green and organic transition, where water management is part of organic. There are concrete plans to achieve losses in the water networks, to stimulate storage and reuse of water and to carry out related ongoing work of digitization and monitoring of certain infrastructures. Italy is definitely looking for innovative water solutions. This means that there are opportunities for Dutch companies that can offer innovative water solutions.
That is why we have become acquainted with the RVO, the Dutch embassy and consulate general in Italy and Isle S.r.l. developed a program of initiatives to take you into the Italian water sector.
From 10-12 October we are organizing a water mission to Italy! You can participate in a concrete program with round table sessions, a company visit to an Italian water company, a visit to the Italian international water fair H2O Accadueo in Bologna and matchmaking with Italian (drinking) water companies and other counterparts.

About Italy
Italy faces several water management challenges. Major drought alternating with flooding is the order of the day. To get in touch with Italian cases, a next mission will be organized by the RVO, the Dutch Embassy and Consulate General in Italy, Ilse Utilities and Water Alliance.

Tuesday October 10
Morning: Arrival in Italy, Bologna
Afternoon: Site visit Italian Water Group, Introductions, presentation Hera, case on digitization, NRW, Asset Management drinking water and wastewater (presentation of different Hera Group stakeholders, depending on the topic). Subsequently, Dutch presentation on technological solutions, example cases and round table session
Evening: Dinner
Wednesday, October 11
Morning: Arrival at the Accadueo fair, Workshop on opportunities in the Italian water sector

- Marco Fantozzi (Isle), on the Italian water industry (Opportunities, regulatory challenges, investments)
- Luz Sainz (Isle), Next Generation EU Funds: programme, activities, budget, deadlines and vision for the future
- Tenders and legal requirements in Italy: how to participate

Afternoon: Matchmaking, visit the trading floor, participate in the H2o Accadueo program

Morning: Round table session or attend 2 sessions:
- the new European directive on waste water treatment
- Water Use efficiency in productive activities
Afternoon: Matchmaking program or attend session “present and future of network services and what is the relationship between the public and private sector? “
Late afternoon: Innovation Award Ceremony
Evening: Departure to the Netherlands

Pre-Public-Private Partnership
This mission came about from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency in collaboration with the Dutch embassy and consulate in Italy as part of the pre-pps programme. (Pre-Public-Private Partnership (pre-PPP) The aim of the program is to support the commercial opportunities for Dutch companies in Italy and to work towards potential consortia of Dutch parties.
