REDstack from Sneek and Pure Water Group from Sprundel commissioned a test installation for seawater desalination based on Electrodialysis Reversal (EDR) in Breezanddijk on the Afsluitdijk on 31 January 2020. With this installation , REDstack wants to demonstrate a more efficient desalination than with conventional technologies.
In the following months, the installation, which is to produce about 25 m3 of fresh water per day, will be furtherly tested. The first preliminary results of this EDR pilot installation confirm the conclusions of the previous research with the ED laboratory setup, and thus the Electrodialysis Reversal (EDR) technology appears to be an interesting alternative to currently used technologies for seawater desalination.
