BubbleFlush wins WIS Award

BubbleFlush, an innovation by TranZero, a company founded by entrepreneurs Dennis Luiten (1973) and Hidde Reitsma (1974), has won the WIS Award 2024. The Zoetermeer-based company triumphed in an exciting final, claiming both the audience award and the jury award. This took place on September 25, during the European Water Technology Week (EWTW) in Leeuwarden. The WIS Award is the innovation prize that the Water Alliance annually presents to a company with a remarkable water innovation. The prize includes marketing support valued at 10,000 euros. Winning the award has proven to be an important step towards international expansion for previous winners in recent years.

“With the BubbleFlush, we aim to transform the cleaning industry into an ecologically responsible approach to toilet cleaning,” said Dennis Luiten, who quickly won over the audience during the final with his flamboyant presentation. “Billions of liters of chlorine and other harmful cleaning agents are produced each year, which end up in nature through toilets. With the BubbleFlush, that is no longer necessary.”

During the final, Luiten demonstrated to the audience and jury a device resembling a toy gun, which he claims can sustainably clean any toilet. “The BubbleFlush utilizes an ancient and powerful natural phenomenon: cavitation. Imploding bubbles that effectively remove all dirt and limescale,” the entrepreneur explained.

The basic principle is a form of ‘ultrasonic cleaning,’ which is based on transmitting sound through a conductive medium such as water and cleaning fluid. “What’s very important is that it’s much healthier for both the environment and people,” Luiten emphasized. “Working with chemical agents every day is just as harmful as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. That’s why we initially focused on the cleaning industry and related businesses, in the Netherlands, but also in numerous other countries. So, it’s a B2B approach; we may eventually target the consumer market as well.”
