Are you a natural connector who can help companies and sectors reach the next level, and are you confident taking the lead on projects and events that really matter?
At Water Alliance, you will help companies develop new customer relationships and partnerships in a sector of global importance: water and environmental technology. The Netherlands is a global leader in this field, from smart water solutions that help keep cities liveable to circular technologies that reduce waste. As a Medior Business Developer, you will initially strengthen our business development activities in the Netherlands. You will make a demonstrable contribution to the growth and visibility of Water Alliance’s more than 200 member companies. This is the place to further develop your network and expertise while increasing your impact.
Medior Business Developer
(32–36 hours per week)
As a Medior Business Developer, you will play a full role in our close-knit and driven team. You will work closely with the Industry Manager/Business Development Manager Netherlands to strengthen our activities and position within the Dutch water technology sector. Working together, you will independently take on tasks and projects, build and maintain relationships with companies and partners, and contribute to activities and events that help our members grow their businesses. You will also lead several expert groups and translate market intelligence and insights from our network into concrete opportunities and activities. Although your role will primarily focus on the Netherlands, you may also be involved in international projects and activities.
What will you do?
- Together with your colleagues, you will build and maintain a strong network of companies and partners within the water and environmental technology sector and be a visible representative at networking and industry events.
- You will actively maintain relationships with companies, industry associations, research institutes and other relevant partners.
- You will lead several expert groups: setting the agenda, ensuring relevant information is shared and actively gathering insights into the issues and developments affecting companies.
- You will further develop digital tools that provide access to market intelligence for the sector and identify how they can better meet members’ needs.
- You will identify and develop opportunities for collaboration or business growth and turn them into concrete projects or activities.
- You will be responsible for delivering projects and events from start to finish, including planning, funding and sharing results.
- You will actively contribute to Water Alliance’s visibility by promoting successes and activities through our communication channels and contribute ideas to the strategy behind this.
What do you bring?
- A completed bachelor’s degree or higher, for example in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering and Management, (International) Business, Commercial Economics, Innovation Management or a comparable field, supplemented by at least three years of relevant work experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English.
- Experience of project-based working, preferably including securing project funding.
- Experience in business development in the Dutch market is an advantage; international experience is also welcome.
- You are entrepreneurial and independent and know how to get things done; connecting people and networking come naturally to you.
- You have a demonstrable interest in water technology, innovation or sustainability; a technical background or professional experience within the water technology sector is an advantage. You are able to quickly familiarise yourself with complex technical and market-related topics.
What do we offer?
- A challenging role in which you will contribute to the growth of Dutch water and environmental technology companies, working in a small, dynamic team with short lines of communication and an informal culture.
- A varied business development role with a focus on the Netherlands, working closely with experienced colleagues and with plenty of scope for your own initiative and development. International activities may also form part of your role.
- A one-year employment contract with the intention of developing a long-term working relationship.
- A competitive salary and good benefits, including a pension scheme, travel allowance, sports scheme, 28 days of annual leave based on full-time employment, training opportunities and more.
- We also organise a fun and inspiring team day twice a year.
