Collaborating on clean and sufficient water
Water is essential for the economy, health, food production and nature. At the same time, the availability of clean and sufficient water is under pressure worldwide. This calls for targeted innovation and collaboration. TKI Water Technology brings together companies, knowledge institutions and government bodies to translate new knowledge and technological developments into practical applications. Through this public–private collaboration, innovations are developed more quickly and applied in practice. There is a strong focus on supporting SMEs and making the innovation landscape accessible to parties with innovation ambitions.
This is achieved, among other things, through expert sessions, TechTalks and (cross-sector) meetings in which knowledge sharing, networking and collaboration are central. In this way, companies, knowledge institutions and other parties are actively connected and encouraged to work together on innovative solutions.
What is TKI Water Technology?
Within the Dutch top sectors policy, Top Consortia for Knowledge and Innovation (TKIs) have been established to accelerate innovation. TKI Water Technology is one of the three TKIs within the Top Sector Water & Maritime.
Within this programme, parties work together on technological solutions that contribute to:
- Better water quality
- Sufficient water availability
- A sustainable and climate-positive water chain
The focus is on both technical systems (such as treatment installations, reactors and modules) and nature-based applications in water, soil and subsurface. Supporting technologies, such as sensors and data analysis, are also playing an increasingly important role.
In addition, TKI Water Technology helps organisations find their way within the Dutch innovation ecosystem. This includes insight into available instruments, collaboration opportunities and the broader top sectors policy.
Impact and opportunities
The innovations from TKI Water Technology contribute to a future in which high-quality water remains available for drinking water, agriculture, industry and nature. At the same time, efforts are made to minimise emissions and recover raw materials and energy.
For Dutch companies and knowledge institutions, this offers opportunities to market their knowledge and technology internationally and strengthen their position in the global water sector.
