Patent granted: Ferr-Tech, Servis and STI develop innovative solution to remove PFAS from water

Removing PFAS, PFOS and GenX from wastewater is currently one of the biggest challenges in water treatment.

In close collaboration, STI, Servis and Ferr-Tech have developed an innovative method to effectively break down or remove persistent PFAS compounds from (waste)water. A patent has been granted for this technology, published as WO2025/127926.

The solution brings together three areas of expertise:

  • FerSol®, the green oxidant developed by Ferr-Tech
  • Advanced separation technology from Servis
  • A smart, modular design for scalable deployment by STI

The societal relevance is clear. The global PFAS problem is growing rapidly, and regulations are becoming more stringent. With this patent, we take a step toward a solution that – if proven effective at scale – could be of real value to companies and public authorities working on clean water and a healthy environment.

We are currently building a large-scale pilot module to test the technology in practice. We’re ready for validation and upscaling in collaboration with an industrial partner, and open to further cooperation.

“The patent marks an important step in our mission to tackle water scarcity through sustainable innovation,” says Richard Bruins, CEO of Ferr-Tech. “The potential is significant, but first comes the next phase: scaling the technology and validating the founded laboratorium results. technology.”

“Making PFAS removal possible requires technical precision and the right combination of expertise. That’s exactly what we’ve brought together in this partnership,” says Henk Smal, General Manager at Servis.

“Thanks to the modular design, we can move quickly from pilot to international upscaling. The technology is highly flexible for integration into existing systems,” says Albert de Jonge, CEO of STI.

We continue to build on this breakthrough step by step and look forward to sharing the next phase.
