NEW-ttt launches challenge to validate water technology

Start-ups, researchers and PhD candidates can submit proposals to NEW-ttt for the validation of promising water technologies. Selected projects will receive support worth up to €25,000. Applications are open until 31 October 2026.

The challenge is aimed at technologies at TRL levels 3 to 5, including water treatment, monitoring, modelling and resource recovery. Support may include access to laboratories, pilot facilities, equipment, materials and technical expertise provided by Deltares, Wetsus and the University of Groningen.

Through these validation projects, NEW-ttt aims to further demonstrate the technical feasibility of innovations and help bridge the gap to practical application and market introduction. Projects may last for up to six months. No financial grant will be paid directly to applicants; instead, support will be provided in the form of facilities, resources and expertise.

Applications

The challenge is open to Dutch start-ups and spin-offs affiliated with a knowledge institution that have not yet generated significant commercial revenue. Researchers and PhD candidates are also eligible to submit a proposal.

Applications can be submitted until 31 October 2026. Visit the Deltares website for the full terms and conditions, assessment criteria and application procedure.

Questions can be sent to new-tttvalidationproject@wetsus.nl.
