Meppel, 4 September 2025 – Water technology company Ferr-Tech has succeeded in further reducing the CO₂ footprint of its patented FerSol®. After a previous reduction, Ferr-Tech set the ambition to bring the footprint below 0.2 kg CO₂-eq/kg. That goal has now been achieved – and even surpassed.
FerSol® now has a CO₂ footprint of 0.18 kg CO₂-eq/kg. This result widens the gap between FerSol® and conventional chemistry. For comparison: widely used alternatives show significantly higher values. A 50% sodium hydroxide solution has a footprint of 0.43 kg CO₂-eq/kg, while a 40% ferric chloride solution comes in at 0.34 kg CO₂-eq/kg.
CEO Richard Bruins explains: “Achieving a footprint of 0.18 is not just a technical milestone, it shows who we are as a company. I am incredibly proud of our team for proving that it’s possible to deliver high-performance chemistry while continuously raising the bar for sustainability.”
The result reflects Ferr-Tech’s focus on teamwork, efficient processes, and responsible sourcing of materials. The company remains committed to pushing boundaries and driving further improvements in sustainable water treatment and polymer recycling.
