From 4 to 7 May 2026, the Netherlands was represented at IFAT Munich, the world’s leading trade fair for water, waste and environmental technologies, through the Netherlands Pavilion. Led by Water Alliance and the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), sixteen Dutch organisations joined forces in a shared exhibition stand. The result: greater visibility, valuable international connections and a strong positioning of the Netherlands as a leading innovator in water technology.
To showcase the energy of the Netherlands Pavilion and the innovations presented during IFAT, a video compilation has been created featuring contributions from several participating organisations.
A Joint Dutch Presence
For many companies, participating in an international trade fair represents a significant investment. In addition to the costs of exhibition space, stand construction and logistics, trade fair participation requires considerable preparation and organisation. A shared pavilion therefore offers important advantages. Companies benefit from shared facilities, joint promotion and a strong, recognisable Dutch presence on the exhibition floor. It also lowers the threshold for international exposure and makes it easier to connect with potential partners, customers and investors.
The Netherlands Pavilion served as a central meeting point where businesses, knowledge institutes, government representatives and international visitors could connect. Thanks to its open design and distinctive Dutch identity, the pavilion attracted significant attention throughout the exhibition. Participating organisations benefited not only from their individual presence but also from the collective visibility of the Dutch delegation.

International Connections and New Opportunities
In addition to the exhibition itself, an extensive programme of international matchmaking, knowledge-sharing sessions and networking activities was organised. This created valuable opportunities for Dutch companies to connect with potential partners, customers and investors from around the world.
The networking reception at the Netherlands Pavilion also brought together exhibitors, visitors and international stakeholders. This informal setting provided ample opportunity to exchange knowledge, establish new relationships and explore future collaboration opportunities.
The Strength of Collaboration
The Netherlands Pavilion at IFAT Munich 2026 was made possible through the WTEX10-programme and supported by, among others, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Munich. For participating organisations, the pavilion offered an accessible and effective way to explore new markets, strengthen relationships and create international business opportunities.
The experience at IFAT Munich once again demonstrates that joint participation in international trade fairs is about far more than sharing exhibition space. By bringing together knowledge, innovation and networks, the Dutch water sector presents a powerful collective story that stands out internationally. As such, the Netherlands Pavilion continues to serve as an important platform for strengthening the global position of the Dutch water and environmental technology sector.
