Aquastill, one of the leaders in modular membrane distillation technology (using waste heat powering desalination of sea water and industrial waste water), takes part in the SuperClean project.
Aquastill hereby replaces SolarSpring as a project partner. In August 2024, Aquastill announced the acquisition of SolarSpring’s assets in the field of Membrane Distillation, following the insolvency proceedings of SolarSpring GmbH.
The takeover by Aquastill underlines their commitment to the further development of Membrane Distillation as a Sustainable Thermal Desalination technology for both sea water and industrial waste water. And also their dedication to beautiful meaningful projects like SuperClean.
SuperClean project
The SuperClean project stands for addressing the water nexus problem through superhydrophobic membranes: membrane processes are the solution for waste water recycling and resource recovery. The project aims at creating a new superhydrophobic membrane or membrane coating which would lead to superior wetting resistance, chemical resistance, as well as properties such as higher flux, better antifouling and anti-scaling characteristics etc.
The SuperClean consortium consists of a mix of experts in the field of wet and plasma processing of membranes together with experts in Membrane Distillation.
