After his graduation as an environmental technologist in 1992, Johannes Boonstra joined Paques BV, a Dutch company specialized in biotechnological water and gas treatment.
At Paques Boonstra worked as researcher, technologist and business development manager. In these positions, he has contributed significantly to the development, valorization and export of new (bio)technologies in the fields of, among others, metal recovery and H2S removal.
Wetsus
In 2003 Boonstra was appointed member of the executive board of Wetsus, European centre of excellence for sustainable water technology. Here, more than 100 companies and 22 universities closely cooperate in the development of breakthrough innovations for sustainable water processing and availability. At Wetsus Johannes Boonstra caries responsibility for all financial, juridical and organizational issues. He closely cooperates with Cees Buisman, the other member of the executive board.
Driving fource
Further, Boonstra is one of the driving forces behind the development of and the cooperation on WaterCampus Leeuwarden. On top of that, he is active in several advisory boards and serves as board member at regional and national organizations in the fields of, a.o., water technology, talent development, start-ups, economic development and marketing.
