The Dutch are known for their pioneering innovations in water. From building dikes, polders and islands, to very specific knowledge in water tech. And new innovations are added every single day. That’s why the Dutch networking organization Water Alliance challenges innovative entrepreneurs within the water technology sector, to present their most state-of-the-art product for the prestigious Water Alliance Innovation Stimulation Award.
Taking part means being in the spotlights for several months – but there is much more in store for the winner: a marketing support package worth no less than 10,000 euros. Winning the award can be considered a kickstart for growth. In that context, Communications Manager Agnes Dirksen refers to the most recent winner, Hydraloop Systems. “After winning the award in 2018, that company received a worldwide press response. The innovation, an in-house water recycling system, appealed to the imagination. We have eight candidates this year,” Dirksen adds. “And be careful: these are not only promising start-ups, but also renowned parties that have had a strong position in the market for years and who are now looking for a global stage.”
Due to the Covid-19 crisis, this edition of the WIS award show will be rather unique. The digital voting round will open mid-August, where the worldwide audience will have the opportunity to vote for their top five. The Grand Finale will be a hybrid event where the finalists, their supporters, the jury and media meet in Studio Z in Leeuwarden. From that studio, the final is brought online in the form of an exciting live show. Everyone, everywhere on earth can follow it live.
