Wafilin Systems’ membrane technology on show at ChainCraft demo plant

ChainCraft is building a demo plant for the production of biobased fatty acids in the harbour of Amsterdam. At that plant, fruit and vegetable waste will be converted into high-value fatty acids using a self-developed and patented mixed-culture fermentation process.

Wafilin Systems was selected by ChainCraft to supply the technology for separation and purification of the fatty acids. Since 2015 Wafilin Systems has been involved in development and optimization of an innovative process for separating fatty acids out of the liquid fraction that is released in the fermentation process. The process is composed of a number of separation steps based on membranes. Wafilin Systems will design, supply and start-up the membrane systems for the demo plant.
